As one who did not grow up in a Christian home, I had a lot of catching up to do when Jesus saved me in 1993 when I was 26 years old. I was then privileged to have a mature Christian brother take me under his wing to disciple me in the faith. Originally, I thought everyone was discipled but soon realized that very few have these opportunities. As part of what we do at CBC, I make it my aim to make disciples who will go on to make disciples.
I knew early in my Christian life that God had called me into full-time ministry but I did not know what that would look like. I just wanted to be faithful to whatever God had in front of me to do. Whether that was setting up chairs in our church plant, leading an AWANA group, or working with teenagers, I needed to be faithful. We spent 3 years on staff with Student Venture (the teenage ministry of Cru) and 9 years working with youth at CBC in Beaufort, SC. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I see myself as the lead pastor of a church. Yet, that is where God has me and I continue to make it my aim to be faithful.
My wife Sherry and I have 8 children and 5 grandchildren. Our oldest two are married and have blessed us with the joy of 5 grandchildren. We have twin daughters in Vinnitsa, Ukraine who have opened the first crisis pregnancy center in that city. Our other children are here with us in Ocala.
Away from CBC, I enjoy salt water fishing and rooting on my teams in Tampa.
Pastor of Worship and Outreach
As one who did grow up in a Christian home, I had a lot to learn about connecting with a world that is lost, and meeting people where they are, especially those who are saved later in life. Though I came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ at an early age, I make it my goal to continue to grow in my understanding and practice as a disciple. Throughout my life, I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve in various churches in varying capacities.
I count it a privilege to serve the community of CBC as Pastor of Worship and Outreach, where I primarily focus on planning and playing praise and worship songs with our worship band during our Sunday morning worship service. I also help with various administrative tasks, and work with our Communication Team.
My wife Margie and I have 3 children, Sara, Zachary, and Sam. Margie serves on the Worship Team with me and does an amazing job if I do say so myself. 🙂
Away from CBC, I enjoy woodworking and software development.
