We understand that there are times in life where you just need a helping hand. In fact, many people are doing very well in some parts of their life while struggling in others. Now might be the time when you need someone to come alongside and encourage you from the Bible. The Counseling Ministry is a loving ministry which uses the truth found in the Word of God to encourage you to see your circumstances, problems, and relationships from a biblical perspective.
We believe that God has given us all we need to know Him and to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. All our difficulties may not evaporate. However, when a person willingly submits to God’s instructions and clings to His promises there is hope and help. Whether the issues are struggles with depression, pornography, or other addictive behaviors, raising children, or marriage conflict, our God is a God of hope. He offers rest to the weary, peace to those who are troubled, and grace and love to those who feel defeated and without hope. God wants to heal the broken-hearted and strengthen you in your faith as you learn to depend on Him.
Our counselors are spiritually mature men and women who are trained by the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (formerly known as the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC)) to counsel, based on truth found in the Word of God. All counselors are either certified or in the process of being certified by ACBC.
At this time, CBC can offer the counseling free of charge with the exception of any resources the counselor deems necessary (usually one or two books averaging $8-$15 a piece). However, we require a $25 deposit which is forfeited for last minute cancellations. If a counselee leaves counseling or graduates from counseling without a cancellation the deposit is returned.
As a counseling ministry, it is not within our scope to recommend using, not using, or discontinue using legal medications. As a church we view legal medications as a Romans 14 issue.
First of all, you can expect that everything will be held in strict confidence except where, in the counselor’s judgment, there is a biblical requirement to involve others.
Second, you can expect that you will be cared for, and respected.
Third, you’ll be encouraged in your successes and exhorted to think and behave in a way that pleases Jesus Christ.
We have four requirements:
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience…
– Colossians 3:12
